We want to extend our device with Modbus TCP server functionality with optional redundant communication.
Our system can have redundant CPUs with one Modbus TCP interface at each CPU.
In our older solution with serial Modbus via RS485 we supported redundant connections to several DCS systems, which have often own and different redundancy philosophies. This redundant solutions were proprietary in most cases.
We know that there are some PLCs and DCS systems with redundant Modbus TCP interfaces on the market. We have not found technical specifications how to handle the redundancy in detail and what our device must fulfill that it can be operated together with such redundant automation systems.
