Remote Pump Control

Thread Starter

Hi all,

I've been asked to investigate the possibilities of a remote stop for a pump located 4km away. Even if running a cable was a plausible solution, this has been ruled out due to the location.

Now my experience with wireless is non existent, so I was hoping someone could kindly shed some light.

Appreciate any advice on this.

Thanks in advance,
Wireless is the only viable option for that distance. When I was in mining we used a PLC to PLC radio link out of Australia for distances of 90 kM or more. This was 20 years ago, I'm sure there are many more options available now.

Your PLC vendor might be a good source of information, more likely than a DCS vendor I think.

A PLC at the pump end can allow for things like minimum run time and ensure that the request for the pump to start is valid.
