Can any one suggest a suitable replacement of the float type Level switches used in measuring oil level in seal pot of a pump? The seal pot is at present pressurized using N2 to about 3 kg/cm2.

You may want to consider a sonic switch as made by Ametek Drexelbrook or Thermo Electron. This type of technology has been used successfully in the past.

Try any of the guided wave radar manufacturers as they all have "kits" to retrofit to seal pots and cages.

Another option are the guided wave radar devices. Most of them offer flanges or interfaces to most seal pot and float chambers on the market.

We have been facing the same problems at IPCL, India. Is this solution an economically viable one ? The reason that I ask this question is a new level switch would cost around 350 USD, what would be the approxiamte cost of a retrofit guided wave ?
