rotor flux oriented control

I'm a neophyte in the arena of vector control but hopefully tring to change this. Currently I'm trying to implement a rotor flux oriented scheme using two line currents and an encoder on the admc401. However, I'm not able to start the
motor using the closed loop position (calculated from the current model) in the park transformation driving the pwm calculation routine. I would really like to know how the position which does not change at startup can be used to rotate the reference vector (in the dq reference frame)? Also how do i determine the initial rotor flux angle for the system at startup?.
