I intend to make an Allen Bradley 5/20 PLC communicate with a Yokogawa Centum CS DCS. Protocol is RS 485 Modbus with minimum 19.2K baud rate. The transmission distance is about 500 meters, well within the range of RS 485. However considering the noisy plant environment Yokogawa recommends line drivers after every 100 meters in case of copper cable transmission. The solution is not practical for a hazardous area environment.
Without using fibreoptics or modems, are there any other direct line drivers available which we can use panel to panel (without cable breaks) and which ensure clean noise free transmission?

I don't know why you wouldn't want to go fiber, especialy in a hazardous area. If you change your mind on that check out http://www.phoenixdigitalcorp.com/ they make a wide varity of fiber optic modules.
You don't want modems either but you might want to consider http://www.data-linc.com this company makes spread spectrum modems. there is no license requried for these.
