In that can any body refer to me what is the 4-wire RTD and how we made temp compensation for RTDs generally

Hi there,

The 4 wire RTD is a dual line compensated Resistance Temperature Detector.

As per the second part of your question about temperature compensation it is a common mistake to refer to it as "temperature compensation". It is actually "Line compensation" that we do by measuring the line resistance from the RTD to the display unit and then deduct that value from the total resistance value measured at the display, in order to get the resistance of the RTD without the line resistance. With a three wire RTD we only measure one line but with the four wire RTD we measure both lines so that makes the four wire RTD more accurate than the two or three wire RTD's.
