Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with Gateways that Allow connectivity of S7/MPI Siemens PLCs and Modbus TCP/IP protocol?

Appreciate your help.

Hi,

Which PLC do you want to use? Scada software Pcvue can communicate with several S7 PLC (S7-200, S7-300) and it can communicate in Modbus TCP/IP as well. So you can use it as a gateway. A special license is done for that (no HMI, just communication).

There exists a Function Block developed by Siemens Sydney Australia that allows an S7-300 to act as a Modbus TCP client or master.

It has been used extensively at a major food factory for some years now.

I suggest you contact Siemens Automation Sydney. I am not from Siemens. It is a "proprietary" block, but if you had the hardware you could write your own.

We just complete a project reading from a Modbus to a S7 300 PLC via TCP/IP. On the PLC we installed a 343 Lean module and used the standard Modbus software from Siemens. Within 4 hours we had comms working.
