(For S7 ver 5.1)
I am trying to incorporate the symbolic names for the contents of a
datablock that I have entered into my symbols table.
For example, when I rightclick an empty label while programming in the
program editor and select insert symbol, I can't select any symbolic names
from my data table. Yet if I absolute address to the data bit, when I exit
out of the label, the symbolic name for the bit is displayed.
Is there any way to get to the symbolic name of the data bit without going
through and absolute addressing it first?

As far as I know, this can not be done. You can only define a symbol for a DB in
a symolic table. But you can contact SIEMENS Technical Support
