I have a requirement to measure the diameter of a cylindrical bush as below:

The cylindrical rubber bush fitted on to both ends of a spindle rod (imagine dumbells).

The bush diameter may vary in the range 30-50 mm.

The required accuracy is in micron order.

Method of sensing preferably non-contact. Any suggestions on this?

Try a laser micrometer and either rotate the shaft or rotate the micrometer to get 360 degree coverage.
