Serial Protocol Converters

At present we use a product known as the "Babel Box" to convert between the following protocols:

1. Alfa Laval Comli Slave.
2. Siemens 3964 and 3964R.
3. Modbus ASCII and Modbus RTU.
4. A_B DH+.

We are in the process of producing a "Generic standard" and would like to know of other possible products that we can evaluate.

This reply is a bit late, but SS Technologies makes a box called 'X-Link' which will translate just about anything to anything else. You plug in the appropriate cards and load some drivers. You might check to see if this suits your needs.

Probably this is too late too, but try

www.lantronix.com

they have a product called micro serial server that can be used to transmit data from an RS232 serial port or RS485 over a tcp/ip network. We use it to connect AB PLC's protctives relays, etc etc.
