Alan Locke, In addition to some great ideas on ladder, hits on the license issue too.
If we let the viral provisions of the GPL extend to application code, we would end up with a great deal more labor savings through reuse. His example, "How many times have we coded up ladder to control a cylinder of one type or another?" My
question:
Would this sort of productivity improvement make up for the percieved loss prevented by keeping application code secret? His ideas on ladder point out one of the great reasons for doing this project. How else could you get your tools to work
the way you want them to? By the way, Ladder++ is not a registered trademark of the lplc
project. ;^)
