SICOMP IPC R120

Dear everyone,

Would you mind helping me solve the problem below?

In our plant, there is a machine operated via an HMI program installed on SICOMP IPC R 120 (made by Siemens with order number 6ap1123-0bv00).

All I see the SICOMP is the same as a common PC. Unless its built-in ports aren't used. The S5 135U linked to SICOMP via a PCB card attached to the SICOMP slot (I don't know what the slot standard is).

The PCB card only contains 2 serial/COM ports and 2 parallel/LPT ports.

The problem is our HMI software only detects a serial mouse, and the SICOMP spare part is obsolete.

My questions are:

"Is it possible to change the old SICOMP into the new Industrial PC?"

For this question, I got 2 contradicting practitioners' opinions. One of them says it is possible as long as we got the complete data of HMI-PLC tag connection.

Others said that it is impossible due to the fact that our HMI program was made with a different language such as C/C++, and the solution is that we should buy the new one from our OEM.

"Can I re-program the HMI display with a new HMI software such as Wonderware or WinCC Flexible, then run it on the new industrial PC?"

Thank you for reading my message, and I really appreciate your answers.

My best regards,

Grahadian
