Siemens DataXchange read/write with SP

DataXchange provides the functionality to 'wizard' through reading from an OPC source and writing it to a DB as well as reading from a DB and writing it to an OPC source. I need to configure DataX (if possible?) to pass a parameter (item A) from an OPC source to a SP and have the SP return a value (item B) that can be written back to the OPC source. Can this be done or can anyone offer suggestions? I'm trying not to have to use (2) different operations and a junk table to store the return values.
