Please let me know if I can buy software to read and load programs (written in step5) onto the EPROM on the simatic s5 module.

Yes, it's called er... STEP5! The latest version is has been stable for many years, and although a little arcane, it works a treat. try to find one of the original system
manuals if you need a primer. There are a few third party packages available, try

You need STEP5 software and an EPROM/EEPROM programmer from siemens called as Prommer (Can be third party also).

Try to buy some PG from Siemens (it must have a Step5 installed). Some older could be cheaper and will make good work for you.

Many S5 plcs can program EEPROMs without the need for a 'Prommer' For example, the S5-90U, will program an inserted EEprom when you use the COMPRESS function in Ladder90. EProms are not to be encouraged nowadays, EEProm technology is now faster, cheaper and just as reliable.
