Please tell me what is the definition of sonic diameter, the parameter usually required in the sizing of flow control valve.

Term, "Sonic diameter", is indigenous to Masoneilan Valve sizing specific sheet. By that, they basically mean, the size of valve dia, through which fluid will flow at sonic velocity under the given flowing conditions.
