I have been given a task to automate soot blower in a oil refinery. Are there any issues invlove in the automation of soot blower. Any body has experience please share. Also guide me about the process.

 

I recommend contacting Fisher or Masoneilan (or other reputable control valve manufacturer) who can provide suitable valves. The valve issue is that it stays closed for long periods and then opens quickly with a correspondingly fast temperature rise with the superheated steam. To specify a valve which will not leak after use is the key. Otherwise it's usually a simple on-off solenoid activated valve.

It would not be superheated steam, not on a soot blower.

 

Usually they use a PLC based independent system for Sootblower control. The valves and Lancer are controlled using it.
