I am currently working on designing a steam header pressure control. The steam header is a pipeline of about 1.5 km. On the one hand I have two boilers which must control the pressure at a consumer about 1 km downstream. Apart from that there are a number of other consumers on the net. Does anyone know articles or has experiences on this type of steam header control, where over large distances the pressure in a steam header has to be controlled.

 

1 km long looks very short needing no control, as long as the master contoller works fine with the boilers and you maintain specified pressure for the last user and maximum consumption. The users upstream may have to reduce their supply pressure. But that is their business as long as you tell them the min/max range.
