Steel chimney corrosion issue

Dear All,

There is a common problem in captive power plants w.r.t. steel chimney corrosion issue especially at the top portion. is there any thread discussed about this problem or can this be a new thread? I welcome various ideas highlighting the causes of the corrosion and remedial actions for the same.
