i want to use stepper motors plus software program to control basic motion of the slides of the machines and control them using computers. I am unable to find any url or detailed info so far. can u help me?

This can be done easily with the help of L298/L297 controller ICs, coupled to a parallel/ serial port with the PC. L297 generates suitable signal combination outputs for the 4 phases for the Stepper motors, and L298 can buffer the current so heavy stepper motors can be used.

I need to do this operations using ULN 2003 and software Matllab. But how can I achieve parallel port in Matlab?
