Can anyone advise the following,
In my application the surge flow is detected using an orifice with a dp type flow tranamsitter across it. The orifice is located in the compressor discharge upstream of the recycle line.

1) What is the basis for sizing the orifice on a surge flow detection? Is it sized for the maximum recycle flow or the maximum compressor throughput?

2) What is the criteria for selecting the flow transmitter range?

answer for Q 1 the orifice plate location is in discharge however, you may have to take into consideration of suction flow.
2)Orifice plate is designed for maximum compressor throughput flow not recycle flow.
