Looking for a source to get a Technical Brief or white paper on single-ended vs. differential Analog signals (specifically 0-10V & 4-20mA).

Can anyone suggest a source for a published article or white paper etc. on single-ended vs. differential that covers both practical and theory issues?

Check out the sites of vendors who sell DAQ cards and the analog IC vendors. they have pretty good info on the whys and wherefores of balanced VS unbalanced measurements. Balanced is the way to go in almost all cases if it's done properly. If it's not, it is effectively unbalanced. I can't think of an industrial app. that wouldn't benefit from reduced noise, especially when a single conversion is used as a reading. I like to average at least 50 but you often can't do that at PLC speed.
