There is an existing system with Teleconnect III protocol of Cegelec ( now ALSTOM). These RTU's have to be linked to a new system. There are no documents with the client and since the RTU's have to be linked to the new system, we need basic documents to understand how the protocol is structured. Is it based on IEC 870-5-1(1990)? Will appreciate if anybody can provide information.

 

I would suggest that you contact two companies I am aware of that support legacy protocols. The first is NovaTech LLC. (www.novatech-llc.com). The second is Applied Systems Engineering (www.applsyseng.com). You can get an idea of other companies in the utility SCADA protocol business by looking at www.dnp.org.

You may want certianly consider (if possible) adding a more interoperable standard protocol (like DNP 3.0) to the legacy products that you can support in your master station more easily.
