temperature gauge advice

hey there! I am actually building a project which is a digital temperature gauge using ICs (CA3162) & (CA3161) with a diode temperature probe (1N4148). just wanted some advice on what this sensor is all about and if there could be some temperature drift notes i could be approached with

Figure on about 2.2 Mv/degree C for tempco of a forward biased Si diode. Fairly stable. Varies as sheet resistivity so individual diodes will vary a little. I assume you are doing this for the education, it's hard to beat the available devices, LM35, etc. for cost as the diode ckt will require calibration. A $10 panel meter and LM35 or similar has pretty high bang/buck. This from someone who has done it both ways :^)
