I have, as promised, finally been able to create a user-editable, user-managed, way to keep track of the mergers and acquisitions in the automation field. For years, I kept this as a flat file that we often talked about here called in jest, The Directory of Lost Companies... and Bela Liptak asked me to make it a part of the Instrument Engineers' Handbook, which I did, in 2005, and have been unable to update it since.
So I decided with the growth of wiki software, to establish the list as I gave it to Bela as the stubs of articles to seed a wiki with. If you'd like to help this grass roots project go, and you don't mind the fact that wiki software is (unfortunately by design) difficult to use, come help us keep this list current.
