Thermal Relief Valves and Pressure Increase

Hi,

Does anyone know how to calculate the pressure increase during thermal expansion?

I have a problem with thermal relief valve. My piping system (carbon steel 12 inch) now working at 5 barg with 35 degC (gasoline liquid) protected by thermal relief valve with set point of 6.2 barg.

During no gasoline transfer period this relief valve is always popping in short interval time causing gasoline product loss.

It seems i need to re-set (increase) the relief valve set pressure to minimize above condition. The worse case set point will be slightly lower than maximum allowable design pressure of pipe being protected.

Much appriciated if anyone have the solution to calculate the pressure increase due to thermal.
