Has anybody connected these two PLCs over ethernet?

We have Control logix racks with ENBT cards and TI545 racks with ethernet cards. They are both connected to our process network. Can I pass data from the TI to the CLX without some "inbetween" piece of hardware/software?

The data are 32 REALs.

Thanks in advance.

The best you are going to do is get a protocol converter or a bridging software.

Online Development Inc. has an embedded XP module that sits in the CTLX rack and can talk to the controller. It also has KepserverEX running on it with their Simatic 505 driver suite and their LinkMaster. You can use these products to read and write data between the controllers. You could also get them directly from Kepware.

You do not mention which Ethernet module you use on the TI side. If it is a Control Technology 2572A, then it's easy. For any other module, it will be impossible.

The A suffix is important; the older 2572 do not support Ethernet/IP.
