I have an application where I need to synchronise the time of several computers (running win NT) from a master clock which is connected to a GPS receiver. Is there a device for the computer to allow this?
There are GPS receivers that plug into an ISA or PCI bus. You probably want to use one to drive many though. You might be able to find an IRIG-B input card for the computer that synchronizes it and connect the IRIG-B output of the GPS clock to all of the computer IRIG-B input cards. I suggest you talk to Arbiter, TrueTime, or Zyfer about your application.
There are devices that connect to the LAN via a hub, etc. that can be used to set/synchronize the time of the multiple computers. Check out: True Time (www.truetime.com), Trimble (www.trimble.com), Spectracom (www.spectracomcorp.com), Aerospace Corp (www.aero.org), among others -Phil
Attached is a link to the Lantronix website. They have a network time server, which should accomplish what you need. http://www.lantronix.com/products/nts/
