to use IBH or preselected charge for reduction power? ms6001b because differential pressure of air filter is too high due foggy. thanks

jesus ch,

If the turbine inlet air filter differential pressure is high because the filters are damp from the fog (and maybe dirty--which is what filters do (trap dirt)--then it is advisable to reduce load on the unit to try to prevent the high differential pressure from causing the filters to rupture, or if the unit has Implosion Doors (bypass doors in the inlet duct work downstream of the inlet air filters) to prevent them from opening and allowing unfiltered air to enter the axial compressor.

Dirty turbine inlet air filters do develop a higher differential pressure faster when the humidity is high.

Pre-Selected Load Control could be used to enter a lower load setpoint until you find a load at which the inlet filter differential pressure is more acceptable.

But your question about IBH is unclear. IBH can be used for one or two different purposes--and while it does reduce load when being used for anti-icing, it's not really a load reduction method. If the unit has DLN combustors then the primary purpose of IBH is probably to allow Premix Combustion Mode operation at lower loads than would be possible without IBH. And, secondarily and if properly equipped it can also be used for anti-icing. But IBH will not reduce the turbine inlet air filter differential pressure; IBH is injected into the axial compressor inlet air flow downstream of the filters.

Hope this helps!
