Trending Software

We're looking for a trending utility which can be used in conjunction with an MS Access 2002 database. The two main things we need to be able to do are zoom in on sections of the trend and allow operators to enter which batch they wish to view the trend for. This will then cross reference start/end times stored in one table with the actual trend data in another table. There's only 8 parameters involved in this so highly configurable pen selection is not needed. ActiveX would be preferable as Access forms are the primary user interface on the PC.

Any suggestion appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

The Office Web Components (OWC v10+) are included with you Office XP package. A little knowledge of the methods, properties and events will get you
going. If you are using IIS 5/6 and IE 5/6 you can build charts "on the fly" and send gifs in ASP/HTML pages. The MSDN library has working examples. I'm pulling real-time charts out of
SQL Server PLC data, but will work with Access too.

Dear Steve,

Our product automationX is real-time software that has ODBC classes for database access and a complete trending solution. We also have a batch
management package. Depending on how may points you'll be trending (e.g. greater than 30) the product might be a good fit.

Hi Steve:

If your machine has an AB PLC5 or SLC500, you can just add analog input cards or some may already exist. Then you can use Allen Bradley's trending software to link to MS Access. (A lot of times, the analog plot points are already being input to the PLC.)
