Q1. Can someone please explain the technology and construction of a TUV AK6 certified redundant fibre-optic link? I am tying a SIL3 rated ESD sytem to a SIL 2 rated Fire & Gas system and the redundant link needs to be TUV certified.

Q2. I have several plant trips LSHH, TSHH, PSHH that have been rated SIL0 but still protect the plant. If an instrument protection that protect the operation of the plant or failure of pumps has been SIL rated 0, does it have to go into a TUV certified ESD system? Can they go into a DCS system?

Brian
