I am required to explore the feasibility of creating a HMI/SCADA using Visual Basic 6.0 for Siemens S7-300. Would appreciate if you could offer some advice on where I could download the OCX for PLC communication to Siemens S7-300 PLC.

I have search through the web but to no avail.

The Computing option from Siemens is a simple method. You have to buy a lisense from Siemens for about $400 US. This will allow MPI communication from PLC to PC. It works well for me.

 

A better option would be to go for an S7 OPC Server with a cost of US $100 per license.

You will able to get information and examples about this in the SIMATIC.NET CD if you have one.
