We have a PLC (Contrologix), an absolute encoder, a asynchronous motor and a VFD and we are looking for a motion controller able to communicate with the PLC through a network (ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc...) and to drive the VFD.
You could simply take the absolute encoder into an input module, make up
some position/velocity loop and simply connect an analogue output to the
VFD. If you were after more accurate positioning, use the 1756-MO2 motion module and change or add an incremental encoder. Or you could look at the PLS
module as it may be all you need, absolute encoder goes into the module, and it has various digital I/O. It all depends on funds, accuracy and what your after.
