Does anyone have any knowledge/experience in using inexpensive webcams in industrial applications for non-demanding computer vision related applications? Any contacts are appreciated.

Yes. I have used board cameras and some sold as webcams.
The board cams with good lenses can be used in critical
apps as well. I can help with inexpensive framegrabbers
as well. I have done this on Linux, but the hardware would
be the same.
