Voltage Measurement

I have been practicing electrical for years now but still there are things that I just can't explain even though I'm trying to research on this very well. In an AC system, say three phase 240V, of which from one to next terminal is phase shifted by 120 electrical deg, graphically representing voltages of two consecutive terminals on a positive sequence by a sine wave, is there anyone who can help me figure out where in this graph is the 240V RMS? Considering a single terminal with reference to a zero potential is quite ok via peak to peak measurement, but how with two live terminals generating two sine waves.
