what does this 1X 2X 3X (multiple of run speeds) actually mean ?

At that frequencies of dominant vibrations how they are identifying the nature of fault of a gas turbine? please explain me in brief, I am very much confusing regarding this multiple frequencies..

A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency... if the fundamental frequency is 1X, the harmonics have frequencies 2X, 3X, 4X, . . .
For a Gas turbine what actually is this 1X 2X 3X....1/2X and all...........

sorry to ask this fundamental question.... i don't understand it clearly...please explain me in detail
