Can anyone tell what is the effect in the signal if voltage appears in the shield cable? And If it is required to connect shield cable and ground & if required why?

Voltage on the cable may be due to magnetic induction or capacitive effect. This may distort your original signal or sometimes create false signal. Proper grounding the shield of the cable helps to overcome this problem.

Grounding only one end of the sheild will prevent the dreaded ground loop effect. The induced voltages will not have any route back to their source, so they do not exist.(Industry Standard)
