We have a Modicon Quantum controller with 2500 networks of logic. We've tried to go from Modsoft to Proworx32, Proworx Nxt, Concept and even Fastrack, all of them are very slow for online editing. We're even using a Centrino with 1G ram. Ethernet or Modbus+, no difference. Seems like good old Modsoft is still the best solution. Does anyone else have a better solution?

 

If you are running Win 2k or XP then Proworx 32 V2.0A is your only choice of software. Modsoft is fast in a DOS environment (not XP) but doesn't support a lot of the later modules and doesn't work well with PC clock speeds above 400MHz.

If you are accessing the Quantum via the serial port then this can be a bottle neck. Modbus Plus is better but a Quantum NOE Ethernet card can make quite a difference.

 

I agree. I have been working on a networked Quantum plus four Momentums. I am using ProWorx 32 and going over Ethernet to all. Online editing is good. The modicon port on the Quantum is definitely a bottleneck.
