I'd rather spend my time on cool new acronym buzzwords like "xml" and "soap" instead of lame microsoft acronym buzzwords like "com" and "dcom."
Even Microsoft has mentioned the OPC-XML specification on their all cake and no frosting .net for manufacturing web page ( http://www.microsoft.com/TechNet/ecommerce/netmanu.asp ).
Where would someone find this magical spec? It seems that the lights are on but no one is home at the OPC Foundation (http://www.opcfoundation.org/). Or did the first implementation of DCOM on a PLC just cause them to explode?
