We find the human metaphor difficult to avoid.
Have you seen the movie MATRIX? Future machines will live in "cyberspace" - not dependent on any physical power or environment - fault-tolerant (like the Internet). This sounds like far-out science-fiction, I know, but this kind of "symbiotic intelligence" is closer than you
think....
