Hi,

can anyone tell me what standard (IEC, ISA, IEEE etc,) is there to check what is the minimum acceptable insulation resistance for our instrument cables (XLPE), voltage rating from 600 to 1000 V. Applied test voltage 250 to 500 VDC.

You can reply me also on my email qaqcinst [at] gmail.com

Technician... I suggest you search the Control.com Archives with key words like: XLPE; Insulation; Test; etc!
If your search prove inadequate, then let me know!

Phil......Thanks for your reply. I checked the archives but couldn't find what I need. Actually i need to know what is the minimum acceptable insulation resistance for instrument cables (which we use for 24V DC power and 4 - 20 mA signal). Can you plz tell me is there any formula to measure that and is there any standard (IEC, ISA, IEEE etc) which states anything about acceptable IR value. Cable size for instrument cable is maximum 2.5 mm2, but normally we use 1.5 mm2 and 1.0 mm2.
