Hello Jim.

I received this error numerous times with our 3000 system years back. I never did figure out what causes it. At first I suspected the Centum Software was corrupted, but on a reinstall the same error would occur.

A complete format and reinstallation of the OS in question usually fixed the error. In one instance, after I reinstalled Win NT several times, and still received the same error, I eventually found one of the DIMMS to be faulty. I suspect this is just a default error code that is issued when Centum encounters an unrecoverable error. Check the software first, particularly if you are using Windows. If the problem persists, it more than likely is a hardware issue which is causing software problems (faulty CPU fan, overheating, faulty RAM, etc.)

Cheers.

Follow the steps below:

1) Uninstall cs3000 completely
Stop all BK... related process
check HIS property
uninstall cs3000
Delete all the relevant folders
2) Restart the system
3) Install the cs3000 software
4) Restart the system
5) Now open the test function and HIS functionality

Warren,

Thanks for your help. I also am not sure what the problem was. I re-installed the Centum software and reloaded the VL-Net card drivers but did not remedy the problem.

I ended up re-imaging the the whole HIS back to it's original state since I had previously taken a Norton Ghost Image of all the HISs in the Project. As you say it may be a memory problem of sorts. The Yokogawa engineer that contacted be suspected the VL-net card driver but after I reinstalled it the problem was the same.

Dear Jim,

When you get Illegal Exit Code, try this.
Go to key code folder in CS3000, then do the following:
Ctrl+x, then save the files in some other folder outside Centum. Restart PC & then put back those files in Key Code folder. Now restart again, and check.

Please let me know your feedback.

Dear Pallab,

Thanks for this insight into the workings of the CS 3000 software.

For now I have solved the problem by re-imaging back the original software but the next time I have this same problem I will try as you suggest.

Dear Anonymous,

Thanks for your help. I will try this on one of my standby systems.

Hi Jim,

Illegal exit code appears because of BKWAIT.exe process running at ur taskmanager.

When u start ur CS3000 it will first search for some basic drivers like vnet driver etc.

this error might come when u have disconnected ur vnet and try to reboot the his and mean while vnet driver fails.

Formatting the system and reinstallin CS3K is the ultimate solution but before this u can try stopping bkwait.exe and perform download of HIS. This works.

I have the same problem Illegal Exit Code. I completely uninstall CS3000 and re install. The same error occurs. Is the error any concern with assigning the project folder?

When I assign the project folder, it say "Fail to set CS 100 PJT to share Name. Please check and set it with explore"

1. The illegal exit code generally relates to the V-net driver non functionality, some cases V-net card not fixed well to the PCI/PCI-X slots.

2. Pl. check the V-net driver status under n/w card properties and if the V-net driver is not properly installed with correct IP address/net mask then will show in yellow colour.

3. REMOVE AND re install the driver.

Hope above steps will solve the problem.

Hi,

I experienced the same error two days ago after replacing a VNET card. however inspecting the card I have inserted I picked up that it wasn't properly inserted. I was stuck with the error and the only option I was left with was to format the PC. However I realize that the XP disk I have doesn't have an installation key and formatting the PC will be as good as leaving everything as it is.

After some thought, I did the following which helped me out.

1. Uninstall the CS3000 application
2. Deleted the whole registry containing Yogogawa
3. Reboot, and reinstall CS3000

I have the HIS back online without formatting Windows :)

Hope this will help someone,
Ludwig
