Hi people,
We have a problem with a Yokogawa CS1000 HIS whereby when the Vnet (10B2 style cabling) is connected and the HIS PC is rebooted, the process BKconnect (basically the first application to start - I think) hangs during startup (100% repeatable). This can be remedied by disconnecting the Vnet cables, rebooting the HIS, and reconnecting the Vnet cables once the HIS application has started.
I have also seen this exact same problem on Free BSD PICS - in the past we would tolerate this behaviour as it was easier to reinstall the PC.
I suspect there is some kind of low-level PCI/Vnet card clash occuring, where if the Vnet card is receiving messages from the Vnet bus, it does not initialise correctly, and the PCs O/S is unable to recognise the presence of the Vnet card.
Q1. Has anyone seen this before?
Q2. Any suggestions to make this problem go away without conducting a full reinstall?
Regards, PB
