Industry Leaders Offer a Helping Hand During COVID-19 Crisis

March 21, 2020 by Stephanie Leonida

GE Digital, Honeywell and Emerson Automation do their part to combat the spread of COVID-19, protecting their employees and supporting industrial and healthcare communities.

Leaders in the industrial automation industry, GE Digital, Emerson Automation, and Honeywell International Inc., are proactively taking measures to ensure the safety and welfare of their employees while also supporting their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During a time of international crisis and uncertainty, these companies need to ensure that their employees and customers' needs are equally met. They must retain their internal and international integrity as conscientious and reliable suppliers.

Honeywell Increase Face-Mask Production Globally

Honeywell provides suppliers with expertise in technological innovation for aerospace systems, engineering services, and industrial products. The company is comprised of four primary Business Groups including Aerospace, Building Technologies, Performance Materials, and Technologies, and Safety and Productivity Solutions.

Along with 3M (MMM), Honeywell is increasing the production of protective N95 face-masks across multiple global facilities. They aim to meet the demand worldwide and to help support hospitals fight and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

In a recent news release, Honeywell spokesman, Eric Krantz, said that “we are well-positioned to further help the U.S. government address COVID-19 response efforts,” adding that Honeywell is “rapidly moving to add capacity in the U.S. for N95 face masks.

Emerson’s Exposure and Risk Minimization Strategies

Emerson has dedicated their time to implement policies and procedures following the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

The company is minimizing exposure and risk through frequent temperature monitoring, provision of hygienic resources and limitation of non-essential travel.

Emerson is maintaining production and delivery levels globally. Customers, employees and business partners can expect Job Hazard Assessment procedures and on-hand personnel equipped with global travel logs for ensuring compliance with their facility access standards.

To further limit travel and exposure, Emerson has developed virtual capabilities in the form of cloud engineering, Virtual Factory Acceptance Tests (vFATs), MyEmerson digital tools (to engineer solutions, manage installed assets, streamline procurement processes, access online training, and to identify relevant contacts with questions), remote collaboration, and virtual meetings.

GE Digital Offering Free Remote Monitoring and Control Licenses

Like Honeywell and Emerson, GE Digital are doing their bit to help protect the public, support their network of customers and limit the spread of the Coronavirus. The company is offering free Remote Monitoring and Control licenses to its iFIX and CIMPLICITY HMI/SCADA software customers.

The web-based solution allows plant operators and management teams to monitor systems in real-time, and control access to plant operations and performance securely via a VPN connection.

Through effective action plans, policy implementation, automation industry giants like Honeywell, Emerson, and GE Digital are setting the standard for safe, supportive, and reliable business operations during this time.
