Offshore Riser Valve as HIPPS?

Can offshore ESDV riser valve with solenoid wired to ESD system? also have a separate solenoid wired to a high integrity pressure protection system? Or should the ESD and HIPPS be totally separate systems from initiating device to the in line valve. By in line valve I mean the process wetted valve.

Sure, an ESDV riser valve can be activated by two independent solenoids from two independent systems i.e. ESD and HIPPS. Normally most of the time this is the case. Only thing you need to make sure that failure of ESD solenoid should not affect the HIPPS solenoid deactivation and shutdown.
