Servo Tuning of API Centennial Drive

Anyone out there well versed in the tuning of an API Servo Drive, the Centennial Series. Seems no matter how many adjustments I make, I can't seem to smooth out the response.

Any suggestions. I'm only using Tuning Wizard and API Scope.

Thanks,

You may have some mechanical problems. Check for
sources of sticky friction (stiction). Turn the load by hand, if you can, and see how it feels.

Also, the servo may be undersized. Double check your torque requirements and your motor to load inertia ratio. Backlash can also cause problems. Measure the load with a torque wrench, if you can.

Hope this helps,

I use to sell API so I am familiar w/ the Centennial. When having the tuning wizard and watching APIScope, Revert the gains to default and bump up the Position Proportional Gain (PPG), it is the Position Loop text box at the top. You will probably end up some where between 15 - 18. Bring it up until it starts to show some instability. Once you notice that, drop it down a number and then adjust response to fine adjust.

Hope this helps. If not, check your Inertia mismatch.
