I need to measure the speed of a round object moving down a vibratory conveyor. The nominal speed is about 10 ft/sec. The sensor would be mounted about 4 ft from the conveyor.
I work for a company that makes high accuracy-high speed ultrasonic distance measuring equipment. I believe that we could give you the distance to the object in real-time fashion but don't know if we could actually give you the rate. You may have to use the distance data and calculate the rate. Sensors can resolve to .0005 inches and uppdate time is very fast (sensors operate at 2 Mhz).
