VFD on 300 KW , 440 Volts Compressor
Replacing Reduced voltage starter to VFD on 300KW Motor drive compressor

Dear all,

We have this Huge Process Blower employed on our Plant, which is running with reduced voltage starter, 300 KW, 440v motor is driving its compressor. the thing is we waste 40% of its generation, utilize only 60%. we are thinking to replace it by VFD and using closed loop control only generate enough Air we required for the process.

Please share your experience of utilizing VFD on such a huge motors

Positive and negative feedback needed.

That is only a 300 HP motor. To change the drive, you have to carryout a mechanical and process evaluation of your compressor needs.

Some compressors will allow variable speed operation, others (Fan/Turbine types) may not.
