as a result we can't read any process signals or modify any forced variable, no access for logic defnition of trooblshooting alarmes.
the G2 component exist in the master folder exist in the pc.
the someone we tell us that is due to an upgrade of toolbox version!
we need help

Ummmm...

What was done prior to this situation? Was someone attempting to upgrade ToolboxST?

Was someone attempting to upgrade to a newer version of ToolbxST, or upgrade some Mark VIe component, without understanding the process (there is precious little written about the process of upgrading ToolboxST versions, but there IS documentation available that is not widely distributed. (Many people fail to look through the 'Documentation' folder on the HMI to see what documentation is already installed on the HMI.)

Upgrading ToolboxST or WorkstationST or ControlST is absolutely NOT like upgrading any other MS-Windows application. There are specific steps that must be executed in specific order, and the steps and the order can vary depending on the version of software being upgraded from as well as the version of software being upgraded to.

Also, it is absolutely wrong to upgrade to a newer version of GE Control Solutions software just because a newer version becomes available. There are some versions of firmware and hardware combinations that aren't backwards-compatible with newer versions of software.

Is the site a multi-HMI site, with a "Master" director/folder on a particular HMI and you can't reach the folder across the network? Did someone try to copy the G2 information from the Master folder to a local HMI?

You need to tell us EXACTLY what alarm/error message you are receiving. WHICH component is ToolboxST complaining is not installed on the PC?

These things don't just miraculously happen without some kind of "stimulus"--usually human stimulus. Sometimes well-meaning, well-intentioned stimulus; sometimes ill-informed and ill-conceived stimulus.

Do you have a back-up? Have you tried installing the back-up?

Do you have the ControlST distribution CD?

Is the UPD (USB Protection Device--the "dongle") properly installed?

We don't have enough information about the configuration of the site and the network and what happened before the inability to access the G2 component. G2 implies there is more than one unit at the site, but we don't know if ToolboxST is used for a multi-unit ToolboxST project, or for a single-unit project, or what.

In short, we just don't have enough information to be of much help. Perhaps someone who has gotten themselves into a similar situation (because many people have, again, through one "stimulus" or another) and may be able to provide some help. But, without MUCH more information, your best bet is to get someone from the packager out to site to help with the situation, AND THEN MAKE BACK-UPS!!!! Along with careful attention to who uses ToolboxST and for what purpose.

Please write back to let us know how you resolve the situation. Or, if you want better help, provide the answers to the questions above (all of them), because you didn't provide enough information and we need to have more information to be of better assistance.
