Hello everyone,

the MCC which we are using is equipped with gemstart 3 based motor protection relay. the problem is that the gemstart 3 link failure is creating a serious headaches at some times. whenever the link failure error comes the MCR is in loss of the details of the drive (ON OFF over load). In general practice we are unplugging the comm cable from the FIP device and plugging it again, or at times if the error is chattering we are replacing the gemstart.

I want to know why exactly this error comes. is there any alternate way of clearing the problem and finding a permanent solution to this.

Do you mean upgradition of its software or upgradition to gemstart 5?

if the software need to be updated can we do it by downloading the software?
