I wanted to see if the control strategy I am proposing is OK or has pitfalls or better alternatives:
An exothermic fed-batch reaction needs to be controlled to between 25 C to 30 C via chilled brine circulating through a jacket and reactant feed-rate throttling.
I was thinking of using the brine outlet temperature cascaded with the reactor's thermowell T sensor. The output would be split-range with a valve on the brine inlet line opened over the initial range and subsequently feed throttled to reduce the exotherm.
Does this seem OK? Comments? Pitfalls?
The alternative is to use a simple cascade with feed throttling initiated by a TSH and feed complete shutdown by a TSHH.
